My fall crochet and knitting plans ๐Ÿ‚ ๐ŸŽƒ ๐Ÿงถ

Itโ€™s time for fall projects! Today I wanted to share my fall crochet and knitting projects plans. If youโ€™d prefer to learn more in video format, you can check out my video on YouTube

Starting with crochet, I first want to mention that crochet to me really means plushies. Iโ€™m not talking about wearables or accessories. I love to make amigurumi so those are the patterns that Iโ€™ll be focusing on today. These include both the traditional Halloween patterns, think ghosts, witches, gnomes, candy corn, etc, and regular fall decor, such as pumpkins and fall-colored leaves.

The first item that caught my eye while I was browsing was this ghost holding a pumpkin. It looks so sweet and so huggable. The pattern is by White Art Line. I want to try making this ghost plushie in a few different yarns. Since the beginning, my tried and true go-to is the Bernat Blanket yarn. Thatโ€™s what I make the vast majority of my plushies with. But I also want to try the Bernat Velvet. This is a size 5 bulky yarn so I expect the ghost will be a bit smaller. But the yarn is incredibly soft and feels different from the super bulky blanket yarn. I also want to try the Big Twist Value yarn which is a size 4. This will, again, be even smaller, but Iโ€™m intrigued to see how they all compare. I imagine the smaller ones will look more like decor pieces rather than a plushie for kids, but Iโ€™ll find out once I make them to compare.

The second pattern that caught my eye was this adorable ghost walking a dog by Once Upon a Cheerio. I picked up the Lion Brand DIY Glow Yarn Natural yarn, so Iโ€™m really excited to see how this turns out. This is a size 4 yarn, which feels very thin to me, probably because Iโ€™m just so used to the super bulky yarn. I knew I would likely make multiple projects with this pattern, and likely other patterns too with the glow-in-the-dark yarn so I picked up a couple of skeins. Iโ€™ll try to use it as is, just as a size 4, and Iโ€™ll also try holding two strands together to see how much larger the project turns out.

The third project that Iโ€™m planning on is one Iโ€™d saved months ago, a ghost lovey by Mimi Magic Art. I have loved making loveys from Mama Made Minis, so I knew I had to include at least one lovey for my fall plans. Despite being a ghost, it still looks so cuddly and adorable. And this is another pattern that Iโ€™d like to try the three different yarn types and see how they compare.

Another project that I came across was this adorable mummy by Lovely Craft. Itโ€™s so cute and gives me a bit of a break from all the white plushies that Iโ€™d saved. Iโ€™ll also use different yarns for this one, Iโ€™m thinking the smaller one will turn into a decor piece while larger ones will still resemble plushies.

Lastly, this incredible pumpkin gnome by Mufficorn. That little hanging pumpkin is just too cute. Iโ€™m thinking of a few different color combinations that I want to try, including a candy corn-colored one.

Some non-plushie crochet items that I also want to make include blankets. There are two types of blankets that have caught my eye recently, a granny stripe stitch blanket and an overlay mosaic crochet blanket.

For the granny stripe stitch blanket, I came across this collection from Pattern Center that gave me the idea to use up my Premier Yarns Retro Velvet and Hobbi Honey Bunny yarns. I have tried making plushies with both of these and really struggled as the yarn falls apart when making magic circles or sewing parts on. I plan on alternating the colors with white and making a lap blanket with the granny stripe stitch.

For the overlay mosaic crochet blanket, the Geometric mosaic blanket by Juniper & Oakes blew me away. Itโ€™s beautiful and intricate and something that I know Iโ€™d cherish forever knowing that I made it myself. I want to get started this fall but it looks not only difficult, but also very time consuming, so while I plan to get started, I donโ€™t believe Iโ€™ll finish it this fall, and maybe not even in the winter. It may be a work in progress for a while.

These are all the projects I have in mind for crochet, although Iโ€™m sure new ones will come up as my feed is inundated with finished projects from some of my favorite creators.

Moving on to knitting! As a kid, I used to knit baby socks with my grandma, but that was well over 25 years ago. As my crochet patterns have become more advanced, I found that I really wanted to try my hand at making a sweater. However, as I browsed on Ravelry, I found myself far more drawn to knitted sweaters than crocheted sweaters.

Recalling that the most helpful part of the Woobles kit for learning crochet was the collection of video tutorials, I searched on YouTube for a sweater knitting tutorial and found this one. Ashley Lillis has a step by step, super detailed tutorial video on how to knit a raglan sweater. Iโ€™ve already ordered the recommended yarn and canโ€™t wait to try knitting my first sweater!

Depending on how that goes, Iโ€™d love to try my hand at a PetiteKnit sweater. Her sweaters make up the majority of my saved sweaters in Ravelry, so perhaps Iโ€™ll try following the written pattern for the Cloud Sweater for my second attempt.

Those are all the projects I have in mind for the fall for crochet and knitting. Iโ€™ll check in in a monthโ€™s time to share my progress with you and canโ€™t wait to get started!
